End of Summer – Time Off

End of Summer meant for me taking some time time off and spending it with friends and neighbors. Milling about the porch and meeting new people before I lock myself up inside to hide from the coming cold weather. I really enjoyed meeting people from the neighborhood that I really didn’t know lived around the corners or up the street. I’ve even made friends with some neighborhood dogs that now expect to come and rest on the porch while owner and I chat, and they get a few good pets in between topics. It makes for a wonderful day and great sermon topics for the future as well!

I am not thrilled that this blog has been neglected in the meantime. I apologize for leaving you hanging suspensefully by not posting anything at all. I should have. But by the end of the day I was so exhausted I’d collapse into a full night’s sleep only to awaken in the morning and start all over again. It has given me a chance to renew my heart and mind and get a better perspective on my spiritual journey. It’s also given me a bigger and clearer view of my faith. Having talked with several people this past month about their faiths and journeys. Big things can come in small packages and that was a big thing for me in just the small conversations we had here and there.

I have a lot going on starting in September so posting will not be daily. It will more than likely be once a week and if I have time a random post here or there.

What’s going on?

Well The Beloved Community is supporting me in two big endeavors. One I’m heading strictly on my own and it’s a Fresh Expressions (I’ll talk more about that in another post), that I named “Bottoms Up.” It’s just a group of people who gather once a week (I chose Mondays from 3-5) at a coffee shop to have coffee and tea and just have conversation. Not a religious group. But a place for anyone who would like a place to feel welcomed, have a safe conversation regardless and anyone is welcome. It’s a group that welcomes those who don’t know where they belong, aren’t sure where they fit in and looking for smiles, good conversation and great coffee or tea.

The second endeavor is a pilot program for the month of September for Dinners for the community in need. We are doing free dinners for those in our church area who are homeless, low income or need a hot meal on the first, third and fourth Friday evenings. If it goes well we’ll continue it from there.

I’ll also be busy with doing sermons once a month instead of just the 5th Sunday of the month. Bible Study starts back up from Summer Break in September, we have Advent coming so for November we have a Christmas Bazaar and want to crochet/knit items for that.

If I had yellow and black fuzz and wings I’d say I was busy as a bumble bee!

but I love the fact that I’m not sitting idle wondering what to do with myself. And this way I’ll have plenty to post about once or twice a week.

I didn’t want you to think I dropped off the face of the earth and I do want to keep this ministry blog going. I do have some sermons to post from the past few weeks. They have wonderful messages and I have permission to share them from the pastors that wrote them. I might not share all of them… I might nit-pick but we shall see what the Holy Spirit leads me to do when the time comes.

I’m off to get some kitty-kuddles and call it a night.

God Bless and Protect!
